Blowing my own trumpet: a story of MUSICKING
In her inaugural lecture, Professor Helen Julia Minors welcomes you to share her musical journey as a musicologist, performer, educator, improviser, researcher, Higher Education leader and manager, broadcaster, charity volunteer, curator and EDI advocate.
Helen will discuss the relationship of music with dance, art, literature, culture and gender. She explains how and why she draws on the notion of translation to explore how we understand music as able to express meaning and sense between artistic modes, across cultures and eras, and to global audiences. She will share extracts of broadcasts, performances, improvisations, documentaries and texts, illustrated with stories and photographs.
