Access your digital transcript and award certificate
How to use our digital transcript service or request a hard copy of a document.
We work in partnership with Gradintelligence (also known as Gradintel) to provide you with an official digital certification of your results and award, for July 2023 Awards onwards.
We use Gradintelligence which is an official document issuing service to issue:
- Digital final academic transcripts
- Digital award certificates
You can use this service to securely access your documents online. You can then share these documents with any employer, university or other third party as a verified record of your results and award.
All documents bear the signature of the University's Academic Registrar and the Vice Chancellor. These documents are tamper proof and can be shared with anyone you choose, as verification of your achievements.
Documents will only become available following the Progress and Award Examination panel that your award has been conferred at. When your documents are ready you will receive an activation email from Gradintel.
Registering with Gradintel
You will receive an email asking you to register with Gradintelligence. You will then receive a welcome email which will enable you to complete the activation process and access your digital documents. When you activate your account you can create your own Gradintelligence username and password. You can continue to use these to log in to Gradintelligence after you have left the University.

For those of you with an award eligible for graduation, you will also receive a hard copy certificate on your graduation day in November. Any student that graduates inabsentia will have their certificate posted out to their confirmed home address.
Transcripts for alumni
If you were awarded from the University before July 2023 your transcript and certificate cannot be hosted on Gradintelligence. However, we can provide a printed copy upon request. You can order this on the Transcripts and Certificates page of our online store. A fee may be associated with this service.
Hard copy documents
Requests for a copy of an academic transcript or certificate should be made through the York St John University online store.
Copies can be collected from the Information Services Desk or posted by standard Royal Mail to an address provided. For an additional fee, documents can be sent by DHL Courier Service.
Please allow up to 3 working days for your documents to be produced.

Academic transcript
Current students, and those who graduated within the last 12 months:
- Free of charge
Students who graduated more than 12 months ago:
- £10.00 for first copy
- £2.00 for each additional copy, ordered at the same time
Award certificate
Replacement copy:
- £30.00 per copy
