The Significance of Religion for Climate Change
5.00 PM to 6.00 PM
Wed 28 February, 2024
This is a Centre for Religion in Society event.
Based on their significant research, Lan T. Chu, Amy Holmes-Tagchungdarpa Kalzang Dorjee Bhutia, and Youssef Chouhoud, will discuss how various religious communities and institutions are responding to the interconnected threats posed by climate change.
Presenting a multi-case analysis from across regions, the authors use an interdisciplinary approach to examine and critically assess this issue drawing on perspectives from Christianity, Buddhism and Islam. Our speakers will examine how religion engages with the state and civil society, and the societal influence of religion in relation to local, national and global narratives on climate change. This conversation provides insights into their forthcoming book On the Significance of Religion for Climate Change, as part of the Routledge series, Religion Matters - On the Significance of Religion in Global Issues.
