Free Futures and Foresight taster course

We are running a free taster course to give you an insight into the full course. We are able to offer flexible start dates to meet the availability of your business. Please complete the enquiry form to express your interest and we will contact you to discuss potential dates.

Who is this course for?

This course is aimed at both business managers and their employees.

What will I learn?

Throughout the course you will learn the key themes for the future whilst setting out questions. You will also learn key features of futures and foresight, along with looking at patterns and trends, as well as outlining mini scenarios and using projections to make decisions.

How will I learn?

This course will be taught using Virtual Action Learning (VAL) using conferencing technology such as Skype or Zoom. The sessions will be taught in groups of 4 to 8 people, repeated every 4 to 7 weeks, to ensure actions are being taken from learning. A cloud base support area will be set up containing key material to enhance your learning.

How will my employer benefit?

This approach to learning futures and foresight has been tried and tested and always results in learning for the present, often in new and challenging ways. It is an essential feature of coping with uncertainty and unpredictability.

Course leader biographies

Professor Jeff Gold

Jeff has an Economics BA (Hons) and Postgraduate Qualifications in HR Management and Education. From 2006 to 2014 he was the co-founder of the HRD and Leadership Research Unit at Leeds Business School. This was a collaborative project with organisations including Hallmark Cards, Morrisons PLC, Skipton Building Society, BUPA, LBBC Ltd, Webanywhere and The Works. The projects sought to support leadership and talent development in each organisation and allow knowledge to be shared between partners. He was also the Director of the DBA course at Leeds Business School.

He has delivered a wide range of seminars, courses and workshops on change, strategic learning, futures and foresight management and leadership with a particular emphasis on participation and distribution.
