Research Office support
We provide support and guidance for our research community.
The University is home to a varied, vibrant and rapidly growing research community.
The Research Office provides central research support to that community, from our postgraduate researchers to our senior academics. We enable the delivery of impactful research.
The Office supports all academic staff in the University to operationalise research strategy and School research plans. We also run a University Research Committee, Research Ethics Committee and all associated committees and groups for the REF submission.
Support for postgraduate researchers
Our postgraduate researchers make a vital contribution to our academic community. The diversity,
experience and energy they bring to campus is fundamental to our research environment and research aspirations.
We provide dedicated support and training for our postgraduate researchers.
Support for academic staff
We recognise the development needs of staff vary depending on the stage of career and area of research.
We offer training, resources and research grant application support.
Support for undergraduate research
We also support undergraduate research by running the Students as Researchers scheme. This is a paid opportunity to work alongside staff supervisors on exciting and varied research projects.
This year we have around 23 students working across 20 different projects.
The scheme includes networking events and a research showcase event towards the end of the academic year. Some participants in the scheme have their work published in respected academic journals and presented at external conferences as well as the Posters in Parliament exhibition.
Library and Learning Services
Our Library and Learning Services team also provide support for our research community, throughout the research cycle.
They provide resources, advice and support for our research community. They also help you to share your research in line with University policies.
