This course will introduce you to the basic ideas and concepts of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy over 2 days.

Using CBT skills and interventions can help you work more efficiently and effectively with clients who are difficult to motivate and immersed in their own thoughts. This 2 day course will give you an in depth introduction to using and understanding CBT.

Who is this course for?

This course is intended for health and social care professionals who work with individual clients who wish to expand their knowledge and skill base.


What will I learn?

Through this two day course you will:

  • Learn about the theory and practice of CBT
  • Develop your assessment and formulation skills
  • Learn to apply CBT processes to yourself and others
  • Explore a range of CBT tools, which you can take into your professional and personal life

Attending this course will lead to a greater understanding of the dynamic interplay between thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Through this you will gain greater insight into your own and others' psychological processes. The course will enhance and complement your current skill set, expanding your range of therapeutic skills.

How will I learn?

This is an interactive face to face session which will include opportunities to practise your CBT skills. You will work in small groups to share knowledge and learning and reflect on specific scenarios. During the course you will draw on your experiences in practice to reflect on and discuss the theory, skills and concepts explored.

Matthew Cole

Matthew Cole is a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist who has been in practice for nearly 30 years. He has worked for a range of organisations including the NHS, the MOD, mental health charities and the private sector.

He has worked with a vast range of individuals, groups and organisations using CBT-based interventions as the agent of change.
